NOCHE BOMBA (2018)

Through movement, expression, drag, and social dances, Noche Bomba is an exploration of gender—as fiction, social construct, reality, and its current implications. Interweaving performative forms to create potent imagery on stage, Pedra’s personal gender evolution is revealed and supported by a cast of seven performers as they navigate themes steeped in tightly-bound and deeply-rooted Venezuelan/Latinx machismo.

Noche Bomba was commissioned and premiered by Q-Stage New Works by 20% Theatre at Phoenix Theater, Minneapolis (May 2018), toured to Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota (April 2019), and has been workshopped and adapted for Walker Art Center’s Choreographers’ Evening (November 2017) and Fresh Oysters (August 2017) in Minneapolis, and at Galería Oro in Vieques, Puerto Rico (January 2019).
